I Want Glowy Skin. I Also Want a Nap.

I Want Glowy Skin. I Also Want a Nap.

I have a confession.

I want glowy skin.

I also want a nap.

And if I'm being forced to choose between a 10-step skincare routine and an extra 30 minutes of sleep?

The sleep is winning every single time.

If you're a working mom, a busy professional, or just a woman trying to survive this season of life, I have a feeling you understand exactly what I'm talking about.

Somewhere Along the Way, Skincare Got Complicated

At some point, skincare stopped being about healthy skin and started feeling like a competitive sport.

Now we're expected to know:

  • Which acids to use

  • Which peptides to layer

  • What order everything goes in

  • Whether we're skin cycling correctly

  • And apparently what time of the moon we're supposed to exfoliate

It's exhausting.

And honestly?

Most women don't need more skincare information.

They need less.

The Real Problem Isn't That You Don't Care

I hear this all the time:

"I know I should take better care of my skin."

The truth is, most women do care.

The issue isn't motivation.

The issue is capacity.

Because after a full day of work, parenting, emails, errands, dishes, and keeping tiny humans alive, many of us don't have a lot left in the tank.

That's not laziness.

That's life.

Why Your Skin Looks More Tired Than You Feel

Actually, let's be honest.

Sometimes your skin looks exactly as tired as you feel.

As we move through our 40s, a few things start happening:

  • Skin holds less moisture

  • Hydration becomes more important

  • Pigmentation becomes more noticeable

  • Fine lines can appear more prominent

  • Recovery slows down

Suddenly the products you've always used don't seem to work the same way.

And your face starts giving away your sleep schedule.

Rude.

You Don't Need a Complicated Routine

When I became a mom, I had two realizations:

  1. I didn't have time for a complicated skincare routine.

  2. My skin needed more support than ever.

Those two things don't seem like they should go together, but they do.

That's why I stopped chasing perfection and started focusing on consistency.

Because the best skincare routine isn't the most advanced one.

It's the one you'll actually do.

My Simple Philosophy

Healthy skin doesn't require 12 products.

It requires a few good products used consistently.

For most women, that means:

Cleanse

Remove the day.

Hydrate

Give your skin the water it's craving.

Protect

Wear your SPF.

Support

Use ingredients that help your skin age well.

That's it.

No skincare Olympics.

No complicated routines.

No spending half your evening in front of the bathroom mirror.

Looking Rested Is the Goal

I don't want to look 25.

I don't even want to look perfect.

I just want to look like I got enough sleep.

I want my skin to look healthy.

I want to feel confident leaving the house without makeup.

I want to look like myself.

Maybe a slightly more rested version of myself.

And if that's what you want too, you're in the right place.

Final Thoughts

If you're a woman juggling work, family, responsibilities, and approximately 47 things on your mental to-do list, let me tell you something:

You don't need another thing to manage.

Your skincare routine should support your life—not become another job.

So yes, I want glowy skin.

But I also want a nap.

And that's exactly why I believe skincare should be simple.
